Mental Health
Historical trauma and current day-to-day issues have significantly impacted our tribal communities, leading to a loss of traditional values and core beliefs. Although prevention and treatment services areavailable, they are geared towards the general population; therefore, lack culturally appropriate servicesavailable to ourpeople.AICA’s mental health programs help American Indian and Alaska Native communities identify andaddress the behavioral health needs of Tribal members by focusing on preventionto reduce suicidalbehaviors, mental illness, substance misuse and trauma, and helping our youth transition intoadulthood.
